For over twenty years Gerald Green operated his own business as a freelance Artist and Illustrator working from his own studio in Warwickshire, having initially trained and worked as an Architect. Initially a large proportion of Gerald's work was the production of commissioned Architectural Illustration work. In parallel with this Gerald pursued a fine art career and since 1978 has exhibited and sold paintings with a variety of galleries, together with undertaking part-time teaching, lecturing, demonstrating and writing about his various painting methods and techniques.
Gerald's paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life. Many are painted on the spot and are essentially personal responses to his observations.
Gerald's approach is to interpret the spirit of his chosen subjects with a fairly casual realistic vision. He prefers this to producing meticulously detailed likenesses of places. Light is the essential ingredient which Gerald uses to animate his work.
He now paints full-time.
